Job Description: The School District of Baraboo is seeking candidates for a full-time Special Education Teacher and Student and Family Engagement Specialist (SAFES); each role will represent approximately 0.5 FTE for a total of 1.0 FTE. This position will begin approximately August 21st, 2023; it holds a 195-day working day contract with benefits.
Student and Family Engagement Specialist Duties
The Student and Family Engagement Specialist is responsible for leading and implementing schoolwide Restorative Practices and Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) systems, leading engagement response systems/strategies, engaging with on-call behavior support, using data to guide decision-making, and communicating with students, staff, and families in ways that are culturally sensitive and responsive.
This position provides leadership, assistance, and support, working to build and sustain the Restorative Practices and Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) framework with integrity in schools and meet the social-emotional needs of all students. This position also serves to coordinate school-level professional development in the Multi-Tiered System/Level of Supports (MTSS/MLSS) of PBIS as well as the positive behavioral approaches. The SAFES will also serve as a leader in problem-solving and planning on individual student cases and will provide coaching to individual classroom teachers at the school level.
Special Education Teacher Duties
The Special Education teacher co-teaches and co-serves in the regular education environment and supports diverse student populations. They utilize knowledge of a variety of educational service options to meet the individual needs of each student. The Special Education teacher utilizes culturally responsive teaching strategies which may include differentiated instruction, inclusive practices, fostering equity in the classroom, developing positive home/school relationships with diverse family structures, collaborating in a team setting, and demonstrating the willingness for professional growth. They will be responsible for case management and the delivery of specialized instruction to students as indicated in individualized education plans and behavior intervention plans.

Qualifications: Candidates should possess a current Wisconsin DPI license in Cross-Categorical Special Education (#1801), Emotional Behavioral Disabilities (#1830), Learning Disabilities (#1811) or Cognitive Disabilities (#1810)
Minimally qualified candidates will have the ability to progress monitor and inform their instruction based upon data. Ability to conduct and complete high quality IEP’s for students. The capacity to interact in a positive, constructive manner with students, families, teaching assistants and fellow teachers is essential.
