REPORTS TO: RMS/RHS Principal The RHS Athletic Director will work directly with RMS Athletic Director and the Athletic Secretary. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Oversees all high school athletic programs. 2. Responds within 24 hours, to questions and requests made by administration, coaches and the athletic secretary, keeping in mind that the position is a part-time, year round position. 3. Oversees and evaluates all head coaches at the high school level. Sees that evaluations of all assistant coaches are done by the supervising head coach each year. 4. In cooperation with the building principals and president, the Athletic Director hires all coaches for the various athletic programs and the non-renewal of coaches when necessary. 5. Conducts the orientation process for Varsity Head coaches. 6. Assists Human Resources/Safe Environment Coordinator with all payroll paperwork and compliance with the Diocesan Safe Environment program. 7. Oversight of coach tuition discount benefit. 8. Oversees the collection of participation fees and for purchasing athletic supplies and equipment. 9. Attends Booster Club meetings at the 9-12 level. 10. Assisted by the Athletic Secretary, coordinates gym times and practice schedules for the various levels. Negotiates with the principals, pastors or managers of facilities for use by RCS teams. 11. Assists in the preparation of a yearly athletic budget. Oversees the ordering of athletic supplies and equipment as needed, ensuring that it is within the approved athletic budget. 12. Responsible for counting and tracking all athletic event gate receipts in accordance with RCS approved policies and protocols. 13. Coordinates with each head coach the inventory for each sport and where the items are stored. Makes sure that these inventories are kept up-to-date for insurance and budgeting purposes. 14. Works with the building principals, staff, and booster clubs to cover all home athletic events with adult supervision. Athletic Director will act as or hire game management officials, which will be stipend positions of RCS. 15. Schedules all non-conference high school games, works with the coaches in the scheduling of all other games, and then issues all required contracts. This is to include scheduling and contracting for tournaments at various levels as required. 16. Knows the WIAA rules and regulations and makes sure that all coaches attend rules interpretation meetings for their sports. Also hires officials as required. 17. Makes sure that coaches have ample training in athletic injuries and works with the Athletic Trainer. 18. Assisted by the Athletic Secretary, prepares and presents practice, game and athletic travel schedules, including any scheduling changes in adequate time so that players, coaches and parents are notified. 19. Enforces the athletic (co-curricular) code and informs coaches of any and all violations and penalties. 20. In conjunction with Communications Director, provides for needed press releases. 21. In cooperation with the coaches, arranges for all awards, letters, etc. 22. In cooperation with the RCS Development Office, Regis Principal and Booster Club, coordinates selection of Hall of Fame candidates, awards, and recognition dinner at least every three years. 23. Represents the school at all necessary meetings of athletic directors at conferences or WIAA levels. 24. Seeks out, promotes and attends professional development opportunities for self and coaches. 25. Operate in accordance with local, Diocesan, state, and federal laws, policies, regulations and codes. 26. Keep in confidence any administrative, faculty/staff, or parent discussions/decisions. 27. Maintain professional, cooperative, and friendly relationships with students, players, parents, visitors, officials, and all staff. 28. Demonstrate support of fellow employees and administration through actions and comments. 29. Assist in keeping lockers rooms, coach offices, and playing fields or gym clean and orderly. Works with the Head Maintenance and building principal to coordinate maintenance and updates. 30. Assumes other duties as necessary or requested by the President of RCS or the building principals. QUALIFICATIONS: • Knowledgeable in the overall operation of the athletic program • Possess good communication skills • Have good organizational skills • Ability to work well with students, parents, staff, coaches, and other constituents • Knowledgeable in athletics • Ability to function effectively in pressure situations
