Sparta Area School District is searching for a full-time School Psychologist to join our team for the 2023-2024 school year! We are a proud learning community with a focus on positive relationships and collaboration. Our staff have a strong desire to meet our mission, which is “to educate all students academically, emotionally, and socially, to inspire curiosity and resilience.” The School Psychologist we are looking for will provide consultation to school teams and families in efforts to improve academic and social emotional learning. The candidate will provide mental health and behavioral interventions for students in need and have a strong ability to develop positive and collaborative relationships with students, staff, families, and community agencies. The ideal candidate will also provide special education program support to teachers and paraprofessionals in order to ensure that teams are using best practices to support students. Duties of the Position: - Coordinates and facilitates all aspects of the special education evaluation process - Supports teams in the development of Individual Education Plans based on student’s disability-related needs - Takes a leadership role in educating colleagues on legal, ethical, and professional standards (compliance, confidentiality, eligibility, records) - Supports other professionals to adhere to timelines established by the school, district, and/or state, including submission of assessment reports - Assists with the development of academic and behavioral interventions - Collects data to inform intervention strategies - Provides mental health and behavior support to students - Participates in building-level consultation teams and the district-wide RTI/PBIS process - Provides coaching and support to special education teams on best practices related to academic and social emotional learning - Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned Special Skills Required: - Strong knowledge of child development, disorders, and assessment techniques - Experience in a school-based environment - Familiarity with the special education evaluation/IEP process - Experience working with children with disabilities - Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills - Excellent organization and time-management skills - Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships - Strong interest in promoting teamwork and collaboration Required license Number: Must be certified or eligible to be certified for a School Psychologist License (7062) We invite you to apply now to be a part of our supportive team and to discover “The Spartan Way!”
