The Mukwonago District, located approximately 25 miles southwest of Milwaukee, is seeking a dynamic social studies teacher beginning in August 2023. Mukwonago High School has an enrollment of about 1,600 students in grades 9-12.
The selected candidate will join the MHS team at an exciting time as the high school just completed a $49.5 million renovation project that has completely reshaped the building and resulted in a new Performing Arts Center and a three-station gymnasium. In addition, the cafeteria, library, engineering/technical education spaces, and classrooms, have been significantly renovated.
Interested candidates must complete the standard application on WECAN and upload the following attachments: a current resume, transcripts, teaching license, and three letters of recommendation.
Priority consideration will be given to a highly motivated teacher with demonstrated expertise in assessment-driven instruction, differentiation, and inquiry-based teaching. The candidate must be knowledgeable about various social studies required courses, as well as current research-based teaching practices. A working knowledge of effective assessment and grading techniques is important.
The selected candidate will be a passionate advocate for active citizenship and be able to develop that enthusiasm in his/her students. The teacher must possess strong classroom management skills in line with Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and demonstrate a good command of teaching skills that incorporate student-owned strategies toward independent learning. In addition, a history of collaborative working relationships with other staff members is essential.
The finalist for this position will join a dedicated group of teachers to work collaboratively within the department and other professional learning communities to improve student learning. The final candidate will also be expected to be involved in the school community beyond the classroom through coaching, advising, and/or committee work.
Job requirements include the completion of a teacher certification program in social studies, and the candidate must possess or be eligible for the following licenses through the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction: (1701) Broad Field Social Studies and (1725) History or related certifications.
The district offers competitive wages and benefits, which will be negotiated with the final candidate.
