PRIMARY FUNCTION: To carry out the instructions of the teacher to promote the Individual Educational Programs of the students. Continuation of this position is dependent on funding.
PRIMARY FUNCTION: To assist students with self-help skills and the classroom teacher in the supervision and guidance of student activities. ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: •Practice sanitary efficient methods in care of the room, supplies, materials and equipment and in preparation of the room and lavatory facilities and to ensure that children are kept free from harm or hazardous materials. •Model and maintain established discipline procedures and rules established by the teacher. •Participate in orientation, pre-service and inservice sessions. •Assist in preparing materials for parents. •Serve snacks and lunches including preparing and organizing food service supplies for sanitary and efficient service. •Perform clerical duties required in the classroom as instructed by the teacher. •Maintain confidentiality of student information OTHER PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: •Complete other duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Technical: Knowledge of modern office equipment. Interpersonal: Good interpersonal skills; good verbal and written communication skills; ability to maintain confidentiality of information; ability to lift and transfer students with orthopedic impairments; willingness to perform special health care procedures as delineated by the school nurse; willingness to provide hygienic assistance to students; ability to accept direction; ability to file and maintain records; ability to readily adapt to the ever changing needs of the students; and sensitivity to cultural diversity and acceptance of all students. Qualifications: 1.Certification: Must be willing and eligible to secure a Child Development Associate (CDA) certification, a Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) licensure as a handicapped children’s aid, and participate in all necessary training such as Food Sanitary Training, CPR preschool, First Aid, Blood-Borne Pathogens Training, etc. 2.Education: A.Required – High school diploma and at least 18 years of age. B.Required – Child Development Associate credential 3.Experience: A.Required – Training in Blood Borne Pathogens. B.Preferred – Experience working with children. Must be willing and eligible to secure a Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction licensure as a handicapped children’s aide.
