The Mineral Point School District is seeking a full-time special education teacher to join the elementary staff. The position is tentatively geared to focus services and support at the upper elementary level (grade 4 and 5). A strong candidate will foremost be a team player and passionate about working with students with diverse needs. Candidates should also be knowledgeable about current research and methods and a strong advocate for students and families. This position supports both the academic and social emotional learning needs of students identified with a disability. Candidates should have a desire to work towards, and in, a student-centered personalized learning environment. Qualified candidates will: Develop relationships and support all students in their academic, social, and emotional success Develop, prepare, and implement best practices and appropriate services based on student needs Use data to adapt teaching methods, instructional materials and assessment strategies to meet the varying needs and interests of individual learners Conduct evaluations to determine eligibility for services and develop/write an IEP Foster an inclusive model for special education Engage with families through communication and collaboration towards shared goals Work collaboratively with staff and administration Mineral Point Unified School District serves approximately 750 students in grades Pre-K through 12 in the beautiful driftless region of Southwest WI (45 minutes to Madison, 45 Minutes to Dubuque). Staff and administration are dedicated to the PLC process, making bold moves to personalize learning, and giving students voice and choice, while providing a safe and healthy environment in a rural school setting.
