The School District of Westfield is accepting applications for a full-time Agriculture teacher & FFA Advisor to work with students at Westfield Area High School/Middle School. Westfield HS/MS serves approximately 450 students and is located in beautiful south-central Wisconsin on Interstate 39. Westfield is approximately 40 miles south of Stevens Point and 50 miles north of Madison. We are seeking an energetic and dynamic educator to join our talented staff. Our community strongly supports Agricultural Education and all Career & Technical Education courses. The School District of Westfield is a financially stable, well-resourced district that offers highly competitive salary & benefit packages. Our school is neat, orderly, and well-maintained. Student disciplinary issues are minimal at best and teachers receive strong support & backing from administration. Teachers enjoy excellent working conditions, tremendous staff camaraderie, and a positive school climate. In recent years, Westfield Area High School was ranked as the 20th best high school in the state of Wisconsin by US News & World Report. Additionally, our staff includes several Kohl Fellowship & Leadership recipients and nominees. Our Agriculture teacher is responsible for working with students in grades 7-12. Class offerings for 2023-2024 include: Animal Science, Aquaculture, Food Technology, Introduction to Agriculture, Natural Resources, Outdoor Certifications, and a Middle School Agriculture Explore class. Teachers are encouraged to add classes to their course offerings that suit their interests, the interests of students, and the changing needs of the workforce. Teachers have the freedom to propose and implement new course offerings in order to develop & maintain student interest in their programs, as well as to highlight the different skills and interests of the teacher. The Agriculture teacher is also responsible for leading the Westfield FFA Organization and working with the Westfield/Montello FFA Alumni. The Agriculture teacher assists students in coordinating FFA activities at the local, district, state, and national levels. He or she prepares and trains FFA contest teams and entries. The Agriculture Department is well-maintained and up-to-date. The department consists of a classroom and a dedicated shop for Agriculture classes. Recent additions include an Aquaponics system, one-to-one chromebooks, and online textbooks & curriculum. We take great pride in ensuring our teachers have exceptional facilities in which to teach. Requirements/Qualifications: Must be certified or willing to become certified with an Agriculture Wisconsin DPI license. Must possess knowledge of current educational methodology and practices. Ideal candidates are energetic, creative and highly skilled at developing positive relationships with colleagues & students. Interested candidates should apply via WECAN and include the cover letter. Attach a copy of your resume, transcripts, and recommendations to your WECAN application. Please be sure to include cell phone numbers of your references rather than classroom or office numbers so that we may conduct reference checks in a timely manner.
