Northeast Wisconsin School of Innovation is seeking certified candidates for an Alternative Education teaching position beginning with the 2023-24 school year. We are seeking dynamic, high energy teacher candidates who will embrace our opportunity to create a transformational education option for students in Northeast Wisconsin. We believe that teachers are the single most important catalyst for students demonstrating high achievement. If you believe in the power of transforming lives through a positive culture and rigorous education, you may be a good fit at Northeast Wisconsin School of Innovation. This position will work primarily with 12th grade students working toward meeting graduation requirements through our Competency-Based education program. The mission of Northeast Wisconsin School of Innovation (N.E.W) is to prepare all students with the knowledge and skills they need to successfully transition to life, college, and the high demand careers of tomorrow. N.E.W. honors the uniqueness of each individual and embraces diverse backgrounds, values, and points of view. N.E.W. strives to build a strong, inclusive community and to prepare students for lives in a multicultural society. Our school is designed to reduce and eliminate achievement gaps for educationally disadvantaged students, provide an alternative and supportive option for students at-risk of dropping out, and increase graduation rates, as well as the overall career and college readiness of its students by working collaboratively with Northeast Wisconsin Technical College and the University of Wisconsin – Green Bay. N.E.W. School of Innovation will meet students where they are at, guide them to where they need to be, and help them get to where they want to go. The primary educational model of N.E.W. is Proficiency-Based education. N.E.W Innovation curriculum is delivered in a student-centered framework. The school also utilizes the following strategies: multi-age grouping; meeting students where they are academically and social-emotionally; individualized/blended learning opportunities; project based learning; embedded interventions; and intentional relationship building to meet the needs of students. Unique to N.E.W. are the systems and supports in place to foster civic engagement. Each student participates in Launch daily. Launch provides students an opportunity to start each day with nutrition, engage in meaningful conversation, and offer support and encouragement to peers. In addition, Launch eases students into school in a welcoming environment rather than an academic class. The principal, teachers, and support staff work together to create curricular activities to intentionally build an educational community to support student behavior, 21st century job skills, social-emotional health and lifelong learning. As a Northeast Wisconsin School of Innovation Learning Facilitator working with an at-promise population of 7th-12th grade students. Teachers must utilize Individualized Learning Plans to drive and implement instruction. In addition, N.E.W teachers will collaborate with staff and community partners to provide students with related educational services. The teacher must also manage student behavior, differentiate instruction, and assess students while keeping track of data pertaining to these. Develop age and content appropriate lessons that are engaging and meet the needs of the students as they progress through their personalized proficiency based program. Work effectively and cooperatively in a team teaching environment. Collaborate with other team members and administration Attend professional development and staff meetings Follow the programs mission and instill the beliefs in our students Assess students regularly Analyze data and student progress Honor the uniqueness individual students and embrace diverse backgrounds, values, and points of view Keep accurate and up to date grades Manage classroom culture and student behavior Support colleagues and participate in school wide activities Ensure classroom is attractive, safe, and conducive for learning Effectively communicate with parents and caregivers Build intentional relationships with disengaged students Assist students in their post-secondary transition plans Additional Job duties: All teachers are expected to take on leadership roles within the school, programs, and staff teams.
