DRAMA DIRECTOR - REVISED START DATE MEQUON-THIENSVILLE RECREATION DEPARTMENT APPLICATION DEADLINE: open until filled WORK PERIOD: Three Productions (Fall Play, Winter/Spring Musical, Summer Play) Audition and rehearsal schedule will be put together by the Drama Director which will include 3 weekend performances for each production SALARY: $1,500-$2,500 per production (based on experience) BEGINNING DATE: start date has been revised to August 1, 2023 The Mequon-Thiensville Recreation Department is looking for an individual to be the Drama Director for the Recreation Department. Candidates must be prepared to perform duties as identified in the position description listed below and will report to the Recreation Director. Position Description Drama Director Qualifications: • College Degree • Theatre Experience preferred • Excellent organizational skills and creativity • Excellent communication skills with youth and adults • Ability to relate and work well with kids grades 4-8 • Ability to work well with parent volunteers • Ability to put teams together (ie. set crew, costume crew, makeup and hair crew, marketing, cast party, etc) • Ability to problem solve and be fiscally responsible • Skilled at performing multiple tasks simultaneously Performance Responsibilities: Drama Director needs to have a vision and execute the duties of production which include: • Knowing how to direct a play or musical - stage blocking, choreography, costuming, set design • Decide on plays and musicals through Pioneer Drama, MTI Broadway, TheatreFolk, etc • Schedule Auditions and Rehearsals - One per week plus a Sunday is preferred • Perform a Fall play, a Spring musical and a Summer play (Possible Summer Academy Classes) • Secure parent volunteers for performance weekends and cast parties • Establish a costume club and set crew for grades 6-8 to help design costumes and sets • Acquire a vocal director, light director, set designer, costume coordinator for each season • Order supplies, costumes, sets, etc on Amazon with Recreation Director • Establish a code of conduct agreement that is signed by parent and student • Establish a pre-planned absence agreement signed by parent and student • Other duties assigned by Recreation Director
