The Green Bay Area Catholic Education (GRACE) school system is a 23-parish collaborative educational ministry that operates nine preschool through eighth grade schools (one of which also offers high school) serving the greater Green Bay area. Formed in 2008, this school system serves more than 2,000 students. GRACE’s neighborhood schools are geographically distributed in the area with strong connections to the area parishes and the broader community. Position Summary GRACE is looking for a full-time Athletic Director. The right candidate would have a passion for sports, students and an enthusiasm for coaching and mentoring based on a faith-filled and Catholic culture. Strong people and communication skills is a must. The Athletic Director is responsible for building and promoting a strong athletic program for GRACE including fundraising. Program development will involve leading and supporting our local athletic directors and booster clubs to create efficiencies and opportunities across our large GRACE system. From students and faculty, to parents, community members, media, and staff, the Athletic Director must interact with an array of groups on and off campus. Position responsibilities make communication across various audiences a must-have for a successful Athletic Director. This position will require some evenings and weekends due to the nature of athletics, coaching and competitions. Job Description Essential Functions: Build, organize and develop a strong athletic program for GRACE students starting with some of the efficiencies identified in our study from and with our current school athletic directors. Fundraising and promoting the GRACE athletic program and GRACE brand across our large system. Support overall enrollment growth through athletics, clubs and positive student experiences. Administer guidance for sports programming in compliance with Diocese policy, WIAA and system and school handbooks. Confer with coaches to provide support and collaboration across schools. Lead the local athletic director team to establish conference and league schedules along with tournaments and opportunities for students and athletes. Work with local booster clubs to support coaching staff and officials. Coproduce a postseason plan with league officials. Cobrand GRACE forms and compliance materials across GRACE in an effort to support local booster clubs. Assist local athletic directors to maintain orderly, clean, and safe facilities and equipment as well as an inventory of equipment across GRACE. Generate and file GRACE wide statistics to log records and timely sharing of information. Comply with school, WIAA and other association rules. Discuss student eligibility with school administrators, local athletic directors and coaches. Develop and assist local athletic directors to regulate their budget and appropriate spending for equipment, facilities, salaries, referees/umpires and more. Seek opportunities for cost efficiencies.
Qualifications and Education Requirements Bachelor’s degree in sports management, health, education or other related field Master’s degree preferred Five years of athletic, coaching and teaching experience preferred Knowledge of fundraising and promotional events as well as donor stewardship Strong interpersonal communication Ability to manage relationships with coaches, school administrators, parishes and the community Skilled at providing motivation and direction to local athletic directors and coaches A resourceful leader that delegates tasks effectively Conference attendance and ongoing professional development are necessary Strong analytical, administrative and multitasking skills A proven track record with creating and overseeing an athletic department’s strategic plan Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, sit, and frequently bend or twist at the neck and trunk. The employee will use the hands to feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee must occasionally exert or lift up to 25 pounds. Successful performance requires specific vision abilities that include close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision.
