Wisconsin Virtual Learning is an online public charter school of the Northern Ozaukee School District. WVL services students from K4 through 12th grade all over the state of Wisconsin. Students attend school through the use of a school provided laptop at their home. The Student Learning Advocate (SLA) is the “go-to” person for anything a student and parent needs at WVL to assist with their academic success. The role of the SLA is a combination of homeroom teacher, guidance counselor, mentor, and motivator by developing a trusting relationship with the student and family.
Employment - 220-day year round contract (includes 10 holidays), Required in-person time in the office setting on campus 2 days/week
Monday-Friday, operations during school hours, some evening obligations for parent meetings/conferences

Technology equipment provided
SLA Student Responsibilities - Orientation, provide logins, schedule, training, and follow-up
Attendance - monitor, Skyward update as needed, Monitor student progress, Share data at Student Concern Meetings
Student Check Ins (as needed) Establish student accountability, Time Management, Organization, Support, Collaborate with teachers to help struggling students
SLA Parent Responsibilities - Orientation, provide logins, schedule, training, Canvas App, Skyward, Parent Check Ins (as needed)
Committee Participation for our Strategic Plan - Must participate in one of the following committees: Marketing, Curriculum, Culture, or Multi-Level Support
State Testing- Receive training, Proctor state tests in-person (travel reimbursement), 5-7 days out of the school year may have travel
Enrollment - Interview prospective students, Provide information about our school and advise if they are a good fit
WVL is looking for a candidate that…
• Holds a Bachelor’s degree (preferable) or Associates degree
• Has a minimum of one year of experience working in a school setting, with parents, teachers, and students
• Demonstrates highly effective oral and written communication skills
• Has the ability to establish relationships and work collaboratively with peers and
instructional partners
• Has the ability to work with a variety of different student/learning management systems
• Has the ability to research and maintain records
• Demonstrates a high level of organization
• Possesses strong technology skills and a willingness to learn
The candidate should be prepared to work with online conferencing platforms and handle a "work from home" culture that allows work from remote locations. Some travel involved with this job, but nothing that is substantial or overnight.
