The Verona Area School District is looking for a strong equity-centered instructional leader, cultural changer and community builder to join our progressive school district as of July 1, 2023, as the Associate Principal of Sugar Creek Elementary School. This position takes the place of our current Dean of Students position. The Verona Area School District (VASD) is a PreK – 12 public school district of approximately 5,900 students located near Madison, WI. VASD is a growing school district with 10 schools including three charter schools and a two-way immersion Spanish program. Our incredible VASD student body is 38% non-white, 28% receive free or reduced lunches, 14% percentage are English Learners and 8% receive special education services. Our staff is 850+ strong between all positions including full and part time. The school district is comprised of 10 buildings and we have a total of 1.5M square feet under roof on nearly 325 total acres. Sugar Creek Elementary School, the home of one of VASD’s two K-5 Two Way Immersion Spanish-English programs, is a welcoming and growing K-5 attendance area school located within the City of Verona, WI and a part of the Verona Area School District. There are many reasons why Sugar Creek is an incredible school! One of those reasons is the diversity of the students that call Sugar Creek their school. Of the over 690 students who attend Sugar Creek, 35% are students of color, 19% are students who are linguistically diverse, 7% are students with special needs and 24% are students whose families receive assistance with meal costs. Sugar Creek serves students from geographically separated areas of our District drawing from parts of nearby neighborhoods as well from the City of Verona, Fitchburg and other rural areas. Salary, Benefits, Length of Contract: This position works a 220-day (10 month) contract with starting compensation that is negotiable but will be no less than $88,000 with an exceptional benefits package.
