CERTIFICATION: Valid WI DPI license –Reading Teacher (1316) and Elementary/Middle-Level Education (1088) or Elementary Education (2088) or Regular Education (1777) Grades K-2
DESCRIPTION
Conrad Elvehjem Primary School (CEPS) is the kindergarten through second-grade school in the McFarland School District (and also oversees Early Childhood and community-based 4K programming). CEPS will be hiring an Academic Interventionist to provide intensive literacy and math instruction to our K-2 students under an Equitable Multi-Level Systems of Supports model. Interested candidates should meet the following requirements.
PREFERRED SKILLS & CHARACTER TRAITS
• A love of working with the variety of strengths, needs, and backgrounds that our awesome early-elementary students bring to the table is absolutely essential; must have a knack for connecting with students and infusing joy into teaching and learning
• Desire to embed yourself in a school team where you are willing to share your strengths and talents and also learn and grow as a professional; you will be collaborating with a team of staff including the intervention team, grade level teachers, special education, English-language, advanced learners, support staff, and administration
• Strong grasp of the science-based foundational literacy skills needs for early learners and the influence this has on overall student achievement (e.g., training in Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling [LETRS], etc.)
• Ability to prepare, deliver, and monitor intensive literacy and math interventions to students; background in making data-based decisions to inform instruction preferred
• Comfort with differentiation of assessment, curriculum, and instruction, and the use of data to inform instruction
• Willingness to teach in a variety of settings based on student need, including but not limited to 1:1 and small-group instruction as the primary emphasis, along with in-class support and co-teaching models as a secondary model for intervention
• Knowledge of and/or experience with equitable and culturally/linguistically-responsive teaching practices
• Deep understanding of current best practices in curriculum, instruction, and assessment
• Thorough yet effective and efficient oral, verbal, and written communication skills
• Commitment to partnering with parents/guardians/families of diverse backgrounds
• Skill using technology as an instructional tool to enhance learning
• Experience with any/all of the following strongly preferred (or willing to be trained): Wonders ELA, Bridges in Mathematics, 95% Group, Sonday, and other phonics-based literacy intervention programs
