The Verona Area School District is seeking a full-time Deaf and Hard of Hearing Educational interpreter. Deaf and Hard of Hearing Educational Interpreter Verona Area School District Elementary Level .94 FTE; 37.5 hours per week Starting wage of $34.79 - 36.36 per hour depending on licensure Position to begin as soon as possible Work experiences with students who are deaf and hard of hearing. Provide expressive sign language and voice interpreting for direct instruction within the school Ability to collaborate and be a team player necessary Assist in regular education, special education, and virtual environments Good communication and organization are essential skills Position requires one or more of the following qualifications: Hold an associate’s degree in educational interpreting, valid Wisconsin State License #884, progress towards ongoing credits required every 5 years to renew license and successful passing of the State interpreting exam EIPA (Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment), and possess sufficient knowledge of the classroom content and technical terms in order to interpret meaningfully Prior experience interpreting for D/HH students is desired but not required Non-violent Crisis Intervention training required upon hire Candidates from diverse backgrounds and those who have worked with students and families from diverse backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply Bilingual (Spanish) language skills a plus DEADLINE: Open until filled with ongoing review of applications To apply for this position, complete the WECAN online application at https://wecan.education.wisc.edu/#/, and attach current resume to your application Contact Administrator: Sara Halberg, Director of Special Education, Verona Area School District, 700 N Main St Verona, WI 53593 If you need assistance with transportation to/from work, YWCA's Job Ride program may be of benefit to you.
