Sparta Area School District is seeking to grow our special education department by hiring a full-time Occupational Therapist to join our team for the 2023-2024 school year! Our staff have a strong desire to meet our mission, which is “to educate all students academically, emotionally, and socially, to inspire curiosity and resilience.” Duties of the Position: - Evaluate students referred for challenges in the school environment related to fine motor functioning, sensory and self-regulation, and activities of daily living - Participate collaboratively in IEP team meetings - Develop and Implement Individual Education Plans based on student’s disability-related needs - Provide therapy to students through direct and indirect service delivery models - Develop purposeful activities and strategies designed to improve students’ access to the educational environment and ability to follow classroom routines and perform daily tasks - Provide ideas, tools, and resources to other staff who assist with carrying out therapy goals related to accessing the educational environment and performing learning activities - Monitor student progress - Keep accurate documentation and reporting for student progress reports and medicaid billing - Collaborate with a variety of professionals and families Special Skills Required: - Strong knowledge of child development, disorders, and assessment techniques - Experience working with children with disabilities - Experience in a school-based environment - Familiarity with the special education evaluation/IEP process - Experience with assistive technology - Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills - Excellent organization and time-management skills - Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships - Promote teamwork and collaboration - Knowledge of Medicaid billing Degree/Special Training Required: Masters Required license Number: Must be certified or eligible to be certified for a School Occupational Therapist License Work Schedule of the Position: 190 day contract; 7.5 hours/day Anticipated Start Date: July, 2023 Application Deadline: March 24, 2023 (11:59 p.m.) Contact Person/Supervisor: Lisa Molland, Director of Student Services Additional Information: Draft Timeline (subject to change): Phone screening interviews: March Formal interview: March Board of Education approval: April 10, 2023 Start Date: July 1 We invite you to apply now to be a part of our supportive team and to discover “The Spartan Way!” On WECAN, please submit a standard application form, online cover letter, resume’, all transcripts, and three letters (only three) of recommendation.
