LOCATION: McFarland School District Facilities- Aquatic Attendant
COMPENSATION: $7.50-$16.00/hour
CERTIFICATION: CPR/First Aid recommended- Training provided upon hire
Duties/Responsibilities:
• Supervise and assist in MRAP programming
• Assist the public as necessary by providing program information, answering public inquiries,
handling or referring complaints, posting notices, and interpreting rules and policies
• Provide our community with a safe and enjoyable recreational experience in aquatics, recreation,
and performing arts venues
Skills and Qualities:
•Pool:
o Responsible for the health, safety, and welfare of those using the Aquatic Center
o To supervise the activities of Aquatic Center patrons by enforcing rules and regulations
o Light pool maintenance and facility cleaning duties
o Respond to emergency situations; administer first aid and primary care as needed
o Assists the public as necessary by providing program information, answering public inquiries,
handling or referring complaints, posting notices, and interpreting pool rules and policies
o Attend all in-service training as required by the Director of Community Services and
Programming
o Optional: Teach Swim Lessons in either/both the morning/evening swim lesson program
•Recreation:
o Provides constant supervision and leadership for program participants
o Assisting the Director in facilitating daily and weekly activities of participants
o Instructs and leads participants in various recreation programming and serves as a chaperone
for all youth field trips and special events
o Performs daily safety inspections of the playground area and equipment, reporting any problems
to the Buildings and Grounds Department
o Provides effective communication with parents and members of the community about MRAP
programs
•Performing Arts:
o Provides constant supervision and leadership for program participants
o Assisting the Director in facilitating events of the Performing arts center
o Assist participants in various performing arts programming
o Report safety concerns of equipment or fixtures to the Director of Community Services and
Programming
o Provides effective communication with parents and members of the community about MRAP
programs
o Provides a safe and enjoyable environment in the performing arts center

Qualifications:
o Must be at least 14 years of age to accept assignments in Recreation, Pool, and
Performing Arts excluding swim/lifeguard assignments
o Must be at least 15 years of age to accept swim/lifeguard assignments
o Must be able to teach swim lessons
o Current certification in the following
o Red Cross Lifeguard Training and First Aid or equivalent
o Red Cross CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer or equivalent
o Must be able to effectively communicate with the general public and pool staff
o Desire to work with youth and adults
o Must be able to perform physical aspects of the position, including working long
hours in an MRAP program. Must possess the strength and endurance required to
maintain constant
supervision of participants in a group and/or 1-on-1 setting
o Must be able to respond appropriately to situations requiring First Aid and assist
participants in an emergency (fire, evacuation, illness, or injury)
o Strong oral communication skills, and the ability to understand and effectively follow
oral and written instructions, including health and safety protocols related to COVID-
19
o Must pass a background check if over 18 and provide other forms and details
o Must be able to maintain clear and positive written and verbal communication with
all camp staff and participants
o Ability to work varied hours, including some evenings and weekends, and to be
punctual and dependable
o Must have a familiarity with or the ability to learn to use a variety of equipment
including sports, crafts, and aquatic equipment; office supplies and electronic
equipment including a phone, iPad, computer; digital camera; and other equipment
as the need arises
