ABOUT CESA #1:
Winner of the Top Workplaces Award for five consecutive years, Cooperative Educational Service Agency (CESA) #1 is all about students. CESAs were started over 50 years ago to partner with local school districts to provide high-quality educational and therapy services for students. Wisconsin is divided into 12 CESAs, with CESA #1 comprising six counties in southeastern Wisconsin. CESA #1 is home to 30,000 educators and more than 300,000 students. We are a critical partner to schools, providing reliable, just-in-time support. We offer over 100 kinds of services, including consultation, workshops, and staffing for districts. We are proud of our strong history supporting schools and students.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Help interns become workforce ready through an immersive employability skills program!
Project SEARCH is an innovative, business-driven transition program for young adults with disabilities. The goal is for the students to develop job and social skills through on-site educational and internship experiences at Children’s Wisconsin that lead to competitive employment in the community.
The Special Education Teacher is responsible for providing transitional and educational programming that will enable each young adult to develop academically, mentally, and emotionally. He or she will also facilitate work-based learning that promotes problem solving, teamwork, and social relationships by identifying each student’s strengths, interests, and abilities related to skill acquisition, job development, and job placement.
Classroom activities are based on the Project SEARCH Model, and the Teacher will collaborate with others to provide job coaching for the students in a variety of job rotations throughout the hospital setting. The Teacher is also responsible for coordinating all services with managed care organizations, Children’s Wisconsin, the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, participating school districts, and other interested partners and potential work sites.
