This individual will work with individual students with academic difficulties in the areas of Math and Reading. Candidates must have a desire to work with learners of all various backgrounds and abilities and must be prepared to perform other duties as identified in the position description.

The Mequon-Thiensville School District is a PK-12 district located along the coast of Lake Michigan in a northern suburb of Milwaukee that serves more than 3,500 students. POSITION DESCRIPTION
ACADEMIC INTERVENTION – MIDDLE SCHOOL
Qualifications:
1. College degree strongly preferred
2. Dependable and conscientious with strong work ethic
3. Patient and caring attitude toward children
4. Good communication skills
5. Computer skills strongly preferred
6. Willingness to be a positive and contributing member to a team approach
Reports to:
Academic Intervention Teacher/Middle School Reading Teacher
Evaluated by the Building Principal
Performance Responsibilities:
• Has good organizational skills
• Assumes responsibility/can work without direction
• Maintains confidentiality
• Displays/models a love of learning
• Is willing to study/learn new material
• Demonstrates proficient knowledge in reading instruction
• Uses a variety of strategies/resources to help students with different learning styles
• Uses strategies to help students succeed
• Appropriately manages/disciplines in the learning environment
• Uses good judgement/responds appropriately in crisis situations
• Encourages responsibility and independence in students
• Performs such other duties as may be assigned
• Demonstrates the ability to assist students with academic difficulties, organizational struggles or behavioral challenges
Terms of Employment:
• Nine/ten month year
• Subject to terms of the Mequon-Thiensville School District Educational Support Personnel Handbook
Evaluation:
• Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of employees
