Full Time
Position: Recreation Coordinator
Building: Greenheck Field House
The Recreation Coordinator will plan, develop, coordinate, implement, supervise, and evaluate recreation programs at Greenheck Field House. The Recreation Coordinator will also assist with the day-to-day operations of the Greenheck Turner Community Center (GTCC).
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Program Development and Coordination
● Plan, organize and facilitate recreation programs and provide on-site supervision as needed.
● Evaluate programs and implement recommended changes.
● Respond to the needs and interests of participants.
● Maintain positive relationships with D.C. Everest athletic department and facilitate partnerships that provide program instruction and supervision.
● Work with community-based organizations, individuals, and businesses to provide educational and recreational opportunities.
● Maintain inventory of equipment and supplies for recreation programs and manage the purchase of new equipment.
● Develop program budgets.
● Create promotional material, including but not limited to digital advertising & website information and assist with the creation of program registration forms.
Staff Supervision
● Supervise full and part-time recreation staff, which may include recreation assistants, program supervisors, and referees.
● Oversee other Community Services staff with duties related to recreation programming.
● Recruit, train and supervise all volunteers associated with recreation programming.
● Act as point of contact for staff on duty.
Budgeting
● Assist with the preparation of the Community Services budget.
● Monitor income and expenses to ensure financial stability in accordance with established procedures.
● Purchase equipment & supplies in line with budget estimates.
Operations
● Assist in the day-to-day operations of the GTCC.
● Maintain inventory of equipment for programs and related assets of the GTCC.
● Assist in recruiting and interviewing staff.
● Identify needs of the GTCC and other community programs and provide input.
Conflict Resolution
● Interpret and analyze concerns of program participants and recreation staff.
School-Community Relations
● Maintain open lines of communication with volunteers, community groups, and organizations.
● Maintain positive relations with all customers.
Other Responsibilities
● Attend meetings as requested.
● Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
WHAT YOU’LL RECEIVE
● $46,000 salary per year or higher depending on qualifications and experience.
● Paid time off including 18 paid time off days, 15 vacation days, and 9 holidays (prorated from start date through June 30, 2023).

WHAT IT TAKES
● Bachelor’s degree in recreation management or related field and 3 years of experience in recreation field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
● Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends to meet the needs of programs.
● Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, desktop publishing and recreation related computer software.
● Knowledge of developing and facilitating recreation programs including the rules/regulations for a wide variety of sports.
