Pecatonica Elementary School is seeking a long term substitute elementary classroom teacher. This position is anticipated to start February 24, 2023 to May 26, 2023. Pecatonica Elementary is a 4K-5 school of approximately 200 students, located about 30 minutes southwest of Verona and Fitchburg, and 10 minutes south of US 151/18 Blue Mounds/Barneveld. Class sizes are small, and collaboration among colleagues and administration is strong. We are seeking candidates with a growth mindset who are excited to contribute to our school and community, and we look forward to welcoming someone who strongly believes in continuous learning. Candidates must proactively manage student behavior by fostering positive relationships and building a strong classroom community. Additionally, candidates must have a solid background in reading and writing instruction and differentiated teaching strategies. Candidates should believe in equity for all students, that they have the power to change outcomes for students who have been traditionally underserved, and be prepared to challenge traditional beliefs and misconceptions about children, families, and education. These are prerequisites for the position. Candidates must also: • believe all students can learn • demonstrate a desire and commitment to meet the needs of all students • be prepared to change outcomes for traditionally marginalized students, including students in poverty, students with disabilities, and students of color • continually reflect on teaching practices • establish high expectations for self and students • demonstrate a positive approach to problem solving and collaboration • use appropriate data and monitoring instruments to inform instruction • have or work to gain knowledge of intervention strategies • help students grow in ability to acquire, analyze, synthesize and interpret information Additional desirable characteristics: 1. Experience with Professional Learning Communities 2. Experience with Co -Teaching 3. Experience with issues of social justice and equity 4.
