Job Posting Close Date: open until filled Position: GRADES 6-8 BUILDING SUBSTITUTE Location: Steffen Middle School Starting Date: as soon as possible Grades 6-8 Building Substitute Teacher Position – hours will be from 7:40 am-4:10 pm – Applicants must be certified teachers with a current license or hold a substitute permit through the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. The building substitute will be assigned primarily to work within a 6-8 building each day. Assignments may include providing assistance as a paraprofessional or travelling to another school building if there is no vacancy for a classroom teacher position (4K-5 building) on any given day. Position Responsibilities and Requirements: • Implement existing lesson plans in a manner that ensures the integrity of academic time and motivates student to learn and participate • Instructs students regarding a variety of classroom topics and courses of instructions • Carries out the absent teacher’s prepared lesson plans • Assign reasonable tasks and homework to students in accordance with lesson plans • Exhibits flexibility in matching content to the learners’ level of development • Use appropriate strategies for classroom management • Demonstrate professional practices in teaching • Ensure supervision of students and the classroom environment to assure the health, welfare, and safety of all students • Report all student injuries, accidents, illnesses, and discipline problems to school principal or school personnel immediately • May supervise students in out-of-class settings (e.g., assemblies, lunchroom, recess) • Duties may require traveling to other buildings throughout the district as scheduled. Substitutes are required to stay for the entire workday. The daily pay rate is: $135.00 per full day assignment The Mequon-Thiensville School District is a PK-12 district located along the coast of Lake Michigan in a northern suburb of Milwaukee that serves more than 3,500 students.
