SUMMARY
AVID academic coaches serve as small group, instructional facilitators for students participating in the AVID elective programming in the Sun Prairie Area School District.
AVID is a structured preparatory system designed to promote college eligibility and success in our secondary buildings. In the AVID elective course, seventh through twelfth grade students, who are underrepresented in higher education, receive additional academic, social, and emotional support to help them succeed in their school’s most rigorous courses and guide students on a path to college and career success. AVID academic coaches support AVID tutorials during the elective class by facilitating a collaborative environment in which students use an inquiry process to address points of confusion from their content classes.
