Art Teacher - Elementary License: Art (1550) Required. The Beaver Dam Unified School District seeks a full time Art Teacher. The position offers excellent pay and a full benefit package. Background experiences in ceramics, sculpture, and foundational art are preferred. This position requires a dynamic teacher with ability to develop positive relationships with students, parents, staff, and the community. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to provide students with rigorous and high quality learning experiences. Candidates should be proactive and passionate in their work with teens using a hands-on learning approach that encourages students to imagine, create, and be expressive in learning. Candidates interested in extracurricular and coaching positions are valued. Prefer applicants possessing the following qualifications: • Knowledge of current practices and methodologies in the teaching of art. • Knowledge of and ability to teach students with special needs. • Knowledge of and ability to effectively use technology in the art classroom. • Knowledge of and ability to collaborate with classroom teachers and extend learning in the classroom through art. Skills necessary include: • Excellence in following a sequential, discipline-based art curriculum. • Excellence in working with children to develop individual creativity. • Experience in using technology as instructional and management tools. • Excellence in working with other staff members. Major responsibilities include: • Develops and plans instructional activities, lesson plans, is able to meet the needs of students with individual educational plans. • Conducts classroom instruction based on established curriculum. • Monitors student performance and behavior and takes appropriate action. • Participates in parent/teacher conferences. • Collaborates with other staff in evaluating individual student problems, approaches, and new teaching technologies. • Develops student assessments and evaluates results. Determines student grades for instructional units. • Maintains and provides accurate records as required.
