Salem School is looking for an enthusiastic candidate who is interested in working with students grades 4K-8 and collaborating with staff members to support student success. Roles/Responsibilities: Monitoring school hallways and grounds by cameras or rounds. Continuously circulate the hallways, check restrooms, secure doors, ensure students are in assigned areas, and be proactive in encouraging positive student behavior. Responding to calls from teachers to provide support for students. Help students in distress by calling for assistance or by escorting students to the office. Keeping logs of restroom and door checks. Reporting/checking out any suspicious activity on school grounds. Writing detailed reports when requested. Working crosswalks and directing traffic. Establishing rapport with students. Collaborating with administration and the behavior support team. Supervising lunch detentions and in-school suspensions, including gathering work for students to complete. Supporting students who need structured breaks from the general education setting. Ensure students are complying with the Student Handbook. Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Must be 21 or older, have H.S. Diploma or GED and experience working with young adults and/or prior security experience, but will train the right candidates. Must have reliable transportation and operational phone at all times to receive school notifications, i.e. school closings and emergency notifications. Required Skills and Abilities: Effective written and oral communication skills. Crisis Prevention Institute trained or willingness to be trained. CPR/First Aid certified or willingness to be trained. Assisting students, parents, and staff in a positive manner. Ability to de-escalate intense situations. Ability to follow written and verbal directions. Problem solving skills. Ability to handle and maintain confidential information of students and other sensitive district information. Ability to learn new posts and areas.
