POSITION TITLE: Special Education Assistant 189 days per school year 7.25 hours per day - 3 days per week Special Education assistants are required to obtain a Special Education Program License which may be acquired through the Mosinee School District at no cost to the employee. Assistants are also required to complete training in CPR and First Aid certification, and CPI training as scheduled by the district, which is at no cost to the employee. It is essential that the candidate maintain strict confidentiality in regard to school related information. Brief Description of Minimum Qualifications for the Position: > High level of patience and an even-temperament in approaching events > Ability to work with staff in a collaborative environment. > Ability to work with students in the areas of social, emotional and behavioral delays > Ability to follow consistent student plans and expectations > Ability to work with a special needs student on an individual basis. > Ability to communicate with clear written and verbal prompts > Ability to use different types of technology devices The individual must be: A confidential person who presents a positive school image at all times; Flexible and willing to accept assigned tasks; Willing to obtain or possess a special education aide license. Education: Required: High School diploma Desired: Post-secondary coursework in caring for and educating students Work Experience: Required: Positive experience working with students Desired: Experience working with individuals with disabilities Physical Functions: This is a very physical job that requires exertions over 20 pounds of force. This job requires a combination of sitting (including on the floor), standing, bending with a significant need to move quickly about the building and campus. Use of CPI techniques. Verbal and auditory communications are frequently involved.
