The Williams Bay School District is seeking a full-time special education paraprofessional. Williams Bay is a 700 student 4K – 12 district located in Southeast Wisconsin on the shores of Geneva Lake. The school district is strongly supported by the community and has provided students with an exemplary education. The district has earned state and national recognition with more than 90% of its graduates pursuing post-secondary education.
Qualifications: Any person employed by a Wisconsin public school as a special education program aide must hold a Special Education Program Aide License issued by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) or another valid and current DPI license or permit. Special Education Program Aide licenses are valid for five years.
Note that the DPI does not license regular education classroom aides or paraprofessionals. Educators who hold a valid and current DPI license or permit may work as a special education program aide under their DPI license. The valid DPI license or permit is acceptable for state categorical aide reimbursement for districts.
Position Objective: To promote and support a well-organized, smoothly functioning classroom environment in which students can take full advantage of the instructional program and available resources. To provide immediate and direct support to the classroom teacher and student(s) in providing students’ instructional programs.

• Works with individual students or in small groups of students to reinforce learning of materials or skills initially introduced by the teacher.
• Assists the teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on an understanding of individual needs, interests, and abilities.
• Effectively assists special education and/or regular education teacher(s) with classroom management and instructional process.
• Helps students master instructional objectives assigned by the teacher.
• Monitors student work and assists within the regular classroom.
• Assists with all routines in the classroom.
• Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected for classroom teachers.
• Spends a high level of time in direct student contact.
• Discusses student progress with the classroom teacher at the completion of the day’s assigned lesson.
• Collects data for purposes of monitoring student achievement and growth.
• Competently prepares and/or produces usable materials.
• Communicates effectively and maintains appropriate interactions with teachers and all professional staff.
• Demonstrates enthusiasm and initiative.
• Accepts constructive criticism.
• Uses time efficiently.
