Note: It is a condition of employment that all employees be fully vaccinated against Covid-19. Fully vaccinated is defined as (1) one Johnson & Johnson or (2) two Moderna or Pfizer vaccine doses. Purpose of Position:
Plan, develop, coordinate, implement and provide oversight to all functions of district-wide library media services. Ensure quality delivery of services, such as library policies, procedures, and professional learning to school-based Library Media Technology Specialists (LMTS). Provides leadership and expertise to support LMTSs in the district and facilitate the library collection acquisitions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Work collaboratively with the Executive Director of Library and Tech Services to establish policies and goals for the operation of library/media technology centers throughout the district.
Ensure the application of literacy standards through campus libraries.
Establish procedures for the classification and cataloging of library materials according to accepted library practices.
Plan and conduct regular planning and professional development for LMTSs.
Establish procedures and provide staff with guidelines for the operation of school libraries.
Consult regularly with library staff at all grade levels and provide ongoing assistance and support.
Consult as necessary with principals and provide recommendations and assistance regarding issues with library resources and staff.
Participate in selecting new librarians throughout the district in collaboration with the Human Resources and School-Based Leadership.
Coordinate and compile district-wide reports
Develop and manage the Library Media Services budget, making recommendations for expenditures that align with the district’s goals.
Monitors the expenditures in all Common School Fund accounts and communicates these accounts’ status to building LMTSs.
Provide oversight and guidance to LMTSs on campus budgets’ expenses to ensure funds are appropriately aligned with campus and district goals.
Establishing relationships with vendors
Establish working relationships with Wisconsin DPI School Library Media Education Consultant
Participate in state library advisory committees and groups.
Collaborate with curriculum and instruction team members on library resources that are able to be implemented within MMSD resources that will impact instructional practices.
Facilitate collaboration among all content areas and departments regarding the delivery of service
Actively seek partnerships, plan, and facilitate events that promote library resource services.
Consults with publishing representatives to keep abreast of new materials and resources, discounts, and special offers, and communicates this information to the school library media teachers.
Assists in determining vendors for library orders.
Work collaboratively with other district department offices (Building Services, Accounting, Human Resources, Tech Services, etc.) to support library programming.

Qualifications:
Education
Bachelor’s degree
Master’s degree in Library and Information Science
Experience
Minimum three (3) years of successful classroom teaching
Two (2) years of school librarian/LMTS at the campus level.
Skills
Effective leadership practices;
Thorough knowledge of the Wisconsin Standards for Information and Technology Literacy, AASL, ALA Intellectual Freedom as it relates to schools, and the ISTE Standards for Educators;
Ability to use computer technology in administrative and educational settings;
Excellent organizational ability and strong attention to detail;
Demonstrated oral and written communication skills, problem-solving and consensus-building expertise, and excellent human relations skills;
Knowledge of research methods and sources of information related to library media services;
Integration of technology into the curriculum;
Understands and promises digital literacy;
Strong understanding of library programming, instruction, and effective teaching practices.
License Requirements:
Wisconsin Educator’s License
Wisconsin DPI Instructional Library Media Specialist 902 License
Working and Physical Requirements:
Work is generally performed in an academic library environment, with frequent interruptions and irregularities in the work schedule. Work schedule will be regular but may vary. Travel between campuses may be required. Frequent reaching, walking, standing, lifting, stooping, or carrying equipment or library materials may be necessary. Incumbents may be required to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
