The Mineral Point Unified School District is seeking an instructional assistant to join the special education team at both the Mineral Point Middle School and Mineral Point High School. This is a full-time, school year position with benefits. An instructional assistant provides individual and small group support to students in the classroom and during guided study halls by reteaching and reinforcing lesson content, providing accommodations as required by the IEP, and communicating with special education teachers to coordinate services. Candidates applying for this position should possess patience, basic computer skills, organization skills and flexibility. The willingness to learn from and collaborate with other professionals as well as communicate in a professional and transparent manner is of utmost importance to support students and staff. Candidates interested in the middle school position would benefit from a background as a CNA as they will be providing direct personal cares for a student with disabilities.
Any person employed by a Wisconsin public school as a special education program aide must hold a Special Education Program Aide License issued by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) or another valid and current DPI license or permit. All applicants for a Special Education Program Aide license must hold a high school diploma or an equivalent degree.
