The Germantown School District is looking for a Special Education Program Aide for our Functional Skills program. This position is considered part-time/school year. Responsibilities: - Under the supervision of a special education teacher, prepare for activities. - Under the direction of the special education teacher, supervise students inside the classroom, at transportation pick up and drop off areas, hall, bathroom, cafeteria, and out in the community. - Direct involvement in tasks designed to increase appropriate social, life, job, and academic skills. - Assist special education teachers in the collection and analysis of data on student performance. - Communicate with and maintain effective and cooperative relationships with teachers, students, administrators, parents, other employees, and the general public. - Utilizing interpersonal skills with tact, patience, and courtesy. - When requested, participate in parent conferences/meetings. - Under the direction of the special education teacher, will provide assistance with medical/self-care needs, safety, instructional delivery, daily activities, and other duties as assigned within the program. - Transports students as needed using District vehicle(s). - Perform clerical duties as needed. Qualifications: Certification as a Special Education Program Aide by the Department of Public Instruction must be obtained within the 1st three months. District will endorse and assist the chosen candidate to get their DPI license. Demonstrated competence and understanding in supervising adolescents with special needs and goal areas. Effective interpersonal skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality relating to students and families. Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written language form.
