The School District of Fort Atkinson is currently accepting applications for a 1.0 FTE Family and Consumer Sciences Teacher in our newer beautiful Fort Atkinson High School building beginning with the 2022-23 school year. Position Description: This full-time position provides FCE courses such as Assistant Childcare, Child Development and Parenting, Fashion Analysis, Housing and Interior Design, Independent Living, and Creative Sewing. We are seeking an energetic, dedicated, and innovative educator to join our FCE staff! We are open to new ideas and have a team approach! Location: The beautiful City of Fort Atkinson, population 12,212 (2020 census), is located between Madison and Milwaukee and provides an easy drive to both. We are located along the Rock River, a few miles upstream from Lake Koshkonong, in Jefferson County, Wisconsin. We are home to the Fireside Dinner Theater, the popular Fort Atkinson Family Aquatics Center, Hoard Historical Museum, and bicycle trails run throughout the city. This is a family-friendly city with lots of business and industry partnerships. There is on-site childcare available in one of our elementary schools for school employees. Industry: The largest employer in Fort Atkinson is Fort Healthcare. The city is home to popular businesses such as NASCO, Jones Dairy Farm, and Spacesaver. Education and Health Services make up over 16% of the county’'s total employment while leisure and hospitality make up over 8%. We have a robust youth apprenticeship program and offer career and employment fairs to our student body. Mission: ​​Fort Atkinson High School strives to achieve distinction in all we do. FAHS is #1Fort proud! Student Demographics: We have about 1,000 students on our high school campus. Our student body is made up of over 11% Latino and approximately 83% white students. According to data, under 40% of our families are from low income homes, approximately 13% of our students have a disability, and over 3% of our students are linguistically diverse. Training: Candidates should possess (or are working to obtain) a Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction certification license for Family and Consumer Education (F/CE 1210). Additional certifications desirable (F/CE 1211 Child Services, 1213 Food Services, 1215 Family/Consumer Services). ACCT certification is preferred but not required.
