The Elkhorn Area School District is seeking multiple full-time Special Education Teaching Assistants at the elementary, middle and high school level to work with students who have Individual Education Plans (IEPs). RESPONSIBILITIES: -Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans for students with special educational needs in both the special education and regular education environments. -Follow and implement special education teacher designed supports to students with IEPs, including behavioral challenged students in a variety of instructional settings. -Support teacher(s) during instructional practices. -Discuss instruction, content and assignments with classroom teachers to coordinate instructional efforts and accommodations/modifications needed by students with IEPs. -Provide physical assistance to children with disabilities, including but not limited to, lifting, pushing, transferring from wheelchairs to other accommodations, feeding, toileting, diapering, and providing designated health care to students with medical needs under the guidance of the teacher, school nurse, or health aide. -Supervise, monitor and assist students in classrooms, halls, cafeterias, school yards, bathrooms, gymnasiums, bus loading zones or on field trips; during emergency drills, assemblies, or recreational periods. -Tutor and assist children individually or in small groups to help them master assignments and to reinforce learning concepts presented by teachers. -Monitor and support on-task behavior and instructional engagement of students to promote learning. -Provide social and behavior assistance to students as directed by a teacher. -Monitor and observe students' performance and behavior, as well as, collect and record relevant data to assess progress and maintain accurate records. -Utilize technology to enhance instructional practices and learning. -Enforce administration policies and rules governing students. -Any and all other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: -High school diploma or equivalent is required. -Experience or training in the field of education preferred, but not required. -Must be able to obtain a Wisconsin Department of Instruction Licensure #883. -Formal training and/or relevant successful experience working with children in an organized setting is preferred. SKILLS NEEDED: -Ability to read, write, analyze and interpret content used in the general education curriculum. -Ability to communicate effectively, present information, and respond to questions. -Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar. -Ability to work with and apply mathematical concepts. -Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule format. -Ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
