Physical Demands: • Regularly required to talk or hear • Frequently required to walk, stand, sit, use hands for fine manipulation, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms • Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl • Climbs stairs, step stools or ladders • Lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds or more • Vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus • Demonstrate strength and dexterity to operate custodial/maintenance tools and machinery, cleaning equipment and hand and/or small power tools. Position Qualifications: • Hold a High School Diplomas or its equivalent • Provide evidence of previous experience in custodial work • Perform a wide variety of custodial work • Demonstrate the ability to read, write, and complete simple math • Read, interpret, apply and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures • Meet schedules and time lines • Operate a computer as required for this position • Plan and organize work effectively • Work independently with little direction • Exhibit a personality that has drive and initiative; is caring and patient with children, staff members, co-workers, and visitors (including parents) • Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing • Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality at all times • Meet annual professional training requirements Supervisory Duties: • Reports any safety, sanitary, fire, maintenance, or other building and grounds concern to the District Administrator or their designee • Responsible for the locking and securing of the building at the end of the shift and setting the alarm Position Responsibilities: • Attends all required meetings • Complete, in a timely manner, all assigned duties and tasks which may include the following: o Cleans and sanitizes areas as assigned (i.e. rooms, halls, offices, rest rooms, cafeteria, etc.), vacuums, shampoos, sweeps, scrubs, waxes, polishes, mops and buffs all types of floor surfaces. o Keeps walks and entrances clear and clean o Sets-up, takes down and moves tables, chairs, equipment, shelving and partitions for meetings, athletic events and other District functions as assigned, including weekend events. o Washes windows, white boards, chalk boards and walls. o Collects and empties all recycling and waste containers in a safe and sanitary manner. o Washes, scrubs and disinfects restrooms as well as cleans sinks, fixtures, panels and drinking fountains daily o Cleans up spills (including bodily fluids) in a safe and appropriate manner. o Responds to special requests for custodial services from staff members with supervisor approval. Evaluation: • Performance in this position will be evaluated by the District Administration in accordance to the District’s adopted model of evaluation for the Support Staff.
