The purpose of the Speech and Language Therapist Assistant is to help the Speech Language Pathologist in the therapy and treatment for students who have speech, language, voice, and fluency disorders. You will be helping to implement the speech and language programming or activities as planned and directed by Speech Language Pathologists. You will also be monitoring the use of alternative communication devises and systems. The essential functions of the position include: 1. Follows documented treatment plans and provides direct services as predetermined by the Speech Language Pathologist. 3. Documents student progress toward meeting outlined objectives as stated in the treatment plan. 4. Collects data and other related duties, as directed by the Speech Language Pathologist. This may include pushing into classrooms to support the strategies implemented during therapy sessions. 5. Compiles data to document student’s performance. 6. Performs simple checks and maintenance of equipment. 7. Prepares speech and language instructional materials. 8. Participates in training and appropriate professional development as deemed necessary by the Speech Language Pathologist. 9. Performs related duties as assigned by the supervising Speech Language Pathologist. Working Conditions: 1. Work involves disruptions of daily schedule. 2. Work requires flexibility in adjusting to continuously changing situations. 3. Work involves high level of decision making and the ability to keep information confidential. 4. Work involves travel in the district. The Green Bay Public School District is keeping safety and wellness of our staff, students, and community our priority. Qualifications Required: Education: Speech Language Pathology Assistant or a Bachelor’s degree in communication disorders. License: Wisconsin DPI Special Education Aide License required once hired Experience: Previous experience working with students with speech and language disabilities. Understanding or knowledge of speech and language disorders.
