Description:
The Childcare Program Manager is responsible for the overall management of the Afterschool (ASC) programs including planning, administering and supervising. The ASC program provides before and after school care for students 4K-Grade 5 at Sauk Prairie School District elementary schools during the school days and during the summer. This position oversees program operations for before and after school care that contribute to the care, growth and development of children. In addition, the Childcare Program Manager will serve as a site supervisor at the the Bridges Elementary location (K-2). This position is a full-time year round position Monday through Friday.
Essential Functions:
Administration
● Recruit, interview, hire and train employees
● Schedule staff for med training and other health and safety measures
● Serve as lead on budgeting and purchasing for the programs including food/nutrition purchases
● Set Up electronic program registration and enter and monitor payments
● Maintain daily attendance records
● Maintain enrollment information for each program participant and provide on-site staff with necessary information
● Collect relevant data for the purpose of program evaluation and grant acquisition
● Attend required professional growth in-services, i.e. Blood borne Pathogens, Meds Distribution, all required in-service workshops
● Communicate regularly with the Community Education Director, parents, teachers/counselors/social workers regarding homework/behavioral concerns
Planning
● Plan and implement regular staff development opportunities and specific training
● Work with staff and outside venues to coordinate special events/activities for the sites
● Purchase supplies and distribute supplies to sites
● Work with bus companies for transportation to off-site events
● Implement school policies and procedures to safeguard the health and safety of the students
● Be knowledgeable and share emergency procedures and information with on-site staff
● Ascertain that on-site staff is knowledgeable of current fire and tornado drill procedures according to school district policy
● Provide on-site staff with information regarding medication administration, storage and recording consistent with school district policies
Supervision
● Facilitate and assure that on-site staff is competent and qualified to provide a safe and creative space for optimal growth and development of program participants
● Supervise and schedule teaching assistants, student assistants and volunteers
● Serve as Supervisor of the Bridges Elementary site
● Conduct school childcare site visits and reviews
● Conduct yearly evaluations of staff
● Conduct regular staff meetings
District Description:
The Sauk Prairie School District includes Sauk City and Prairie du Sac, two “next door” villages known as Sauk Prairie. They are located on the beautiful Wisconsin River. Thirteen towns and the village of Merrimac are also in the district. The area features rolling hills, meadows, bluffs, forests, lakes and streams. 1. Bachelor’s Degree in a related field (education, psychology, early childhood) with experience working with children or an Associates Degree with a minimum of 5 years in childcare management
2. Experience working with children in a childcare or school environment
3. Experience in program management and staff supervision
4. Two or more years of experience managing after school and child care programs or education in a similar setting
5. Oral, written and interpersonal communication skills required including the ability to establish and maintain relationships with other staff members, supervisors, administrators and the community
6. Strong leadership and organization skills with the ability to coordinate logistics and programming and manage budget and purchasing
7. Dependability, flexibility and a commitment to working as part of a team are a must
8. Working knowledge of Microsoft and Google
9. CPR/AED/First Aid certified with the willingness to stay current on certification and other certifications they may be required
10. Working knowledge and understanding of local, educational and service agents and organizations
11. Experience working with a diverse population is a plus
