We know that students who are strong readers by the end of 3rd grade are more likely to be successful learners and graduate high school. In Wisconsin, fewer than half of our 4th graders are reading at grade level. Together, we can help change this! Reading Corp trains people to become extraordinary tutors! Our tutors provide individual support to help students become better readers. The extra practice makes an incredible impact and your time will make a difference. Be a part of helping more Pecatonica students succeed--become a reading tutor! --Serve in a School Setting (full-time and part-time options are available) --Work one-on-one with students who need targeted skills practice --Conduct tutoring sessions that are 20 minutes long --Track student progress and regularly meet with the school's on-site coach as well as one of Reading Corps coaching specialists Pecatonica Elementary is a 4K-5 school of approximately 200 students, located about 35 minutes southwest of Verona/Fitchburg, and 10 minutes south of US 151/18 Blue Mounds/Barneveld. Class sizes are small (13-15 students), and collaboration among colleagues and administration is strong (Weekly Grade Level Collaboration Meetings). We are seeking candidates with a growth mindset who are excited to contribute to both our school and community. Candidates must proactively manage student behavior by fostering positive relationships and building a strong classroom community. Candidates must: • believe all students can learn • demonstrate a desire and commitment to meet the needs of all students • prepare to change outcomes for traditionally marginalized students, including students living in poverty, students w/disabilities, & students of color • continually reflect on teaching practices • establish high expectations for self and students • have strong communication and technology skills • demonstrate a positive approach to problem solving and collaboration and share this with someone you know! n • use appropriate data and monitoring instruments to inform instruction As a Scholar Coach, you’ll work alongside a classroom teacher to create a literacy rich classroom environment and help students 1:1 improve their reading skills and confidence. The most important qualification is the desire to make a difference. No experience is needed, Reading Corp will provide all of the training and ongoing support. Their evidence base program works and has already helped more than 275,000 students nationwide.
