Job Description (1.0 FTE)
Special Education Teacher will work with students in a cross-categorical setting with an emphasis on programming, case management, transition, and collaboration with the school team to support student growth and IEP goals. Teacher is responsible for all aspects of caseload students’ educational and social-emotional programming including instruction, assessment, progress monitoring and IEP development.
Qualifications
Ability to collaborate with special and regular education team members to support student progress and programming. Effective communication with parents and team members is essential. Support inclusion practices across all school settings. Experience in delivering specialized instruction to address student needs in academic and functional areas while monitoring progress and interpreting data to make instructional decisions. Knowledge of strategies, tools and evidence-based practices to work with students with behavioral needs, as well as the ability to work with school teams to develop behavioral plans, social stories, visual strategies, and self-advocacy for independence. Ability to use assistive technology tools for students. Ability to train, support and teach programming to teacher assistant for carryover in all settings. Teacher is able to create transition plans and follow-through with activities to support student interests and needs. Willingness to learn on the job and function as part of a school team focused on student growth and success.
Requirements
WI DPI Certification in Cross-Categorical Special Education (any teacher certification will be considered - or willingness to complete special education add-on certification) or having multiple certifications with preference for learning disability, intellectual disability, emotional behavioral and/or cross-categorical certification disability. Teacher will support students with diverse needs and disability areas.
