The Agape Christian Preschool, a partner of the Mount Horeb Area School District 4K program, is looking for an outstanding educator to join our team. We are a play-based child care center, focused on learning through play using developmentally appropriate child-directed activities. Our center believes learning is accomplished best through purposeful play. Play, itself, is the one tool all children come equipped with and ready to use. So much can be accomplished, if we meet each child where they are in their development and help them grow through play. We also view the child as a whole, which encompasses the self, the family, the community, and the world around them. Duties: •Plan and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans which align with WMELS, Creative •Curriculum, Handwriting Without Tears, and the Pyramid Model. •Oversee all children in your care and all daily activities and happenings in the classroom. •Maintain a positive relationship with parents and families. •Uphold an orderly and clean classroom, including cleanliness of toys and materials. •Create and send out weekly newsletters highlighting the happenings of the week. •Create and maintain child portfolios for each child in your care, which include, but not limited to, daily observations, information on development, pictures, and any important information. •Attend monthly staff meetings, periodic trainings, and center sponsored activities. •Work closely with an assistant teacher in creating a positive learning environment for all children. Experience is preferred but not required. Hours are 7:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. General statement of duties: The 4 Year Old Kindergarten (4K) Teacher provides a safe and nurturing environment for children that encourage their social, emotional, physical and cognitive development. The Teacher plans and implements a developmentally appropriate curriculum for enrolled children. Working well in a team environment is expected as are excellent communication skills.
