Position Title: Cross Categorical-Special Education Teacher at Herrman Elementary School Duties of Position: Evaluate students, develop and carry out IEPs. Develop and implement lessons that integrate age and developmentally appropriate practices for first through fourth grade students. Responsible for the academic, social, and emotional well-being of students. Special Skills/Education Required: Must be certified as a special education teacher by the Department of Public Instruction. Must be child centered and able to work cooperatively in a professional learning community (PLC) with staff, parents and the community. Be knowledgeable of FBA’s and BIP’s. Preferred candidate will have experience teaching academic, social, and behavior skills to students with a variety of disabilities. Work Schedule for Position: 191 days, 7:30-3:30 or as assigned. Additional Comments: Knowledge of, or experience in, Responsive Classroom and differentiated instruction preferred. Must be able to develop positive relationships with students, families, staff and administration. License #1801, cross categorical preferred, others will be considered.
