The Child Care Assistant will supervise children in the child care program from 6 weeks through 11 years. The Assistant will implement the following: *Initiate developmentally appropriate activities *Attend to children’s toileting/diapering and hygiene needs *Prepare and serve meals/snacks *General clean up of program area *Record information such as incident r*Assist with preparation and facilitation of age appropriate activity plans and schedules. *Provide for supervision and protection of children in the program. *Maintain classroom in clean and orderly manner to help facilitate activities, resting areas etc. *Work cooperatively with Child Care Teachers to ensure that all children’s needs are being met. *Feeding of infants and assistance with meals for toddlers. *Diapering and toilet assistance. *Maintain classroom and playground guidelines to ensure safety of all children. *Successfully complete 25 hours of early childhood training and update Registry application to maintain certification. *Attend staff meetings *Communicate appropriate concerns or information to parents as needed. Maintain daily report sheets if required in the classroom. reports, medications, and daily attendance in appropriate logs. *Maintain confidentiality concerning children and their families. *Notify Teacher, Director and/or proper authorities of possible signs of illness, abuse or neglect which are noticed. *Daily cleaning including but not limited to laundry, washing dishes, cleaning room and equipment, vacuum, sweep and mop floors. *Follow and enforce Elcho School District guidelines for students, the parent handbook, and applicable licensing rules (DCF 251) *Perform other related duties as directed.
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. Qualified to work in a childcare program per The Registry or be enrolled and successfully complete the coursework to be qualified to work as a teacher in a childcare program. Successful completion of Licensing approved coursework in Shaken Baby/SIDS, Child Abuse and Neglect, and CPR/ First Aid for children and infants. Skills: Physically able to perform lifting as needed. Good communication and organization skill. Ability to work with young children in a positive manner. Adaptability and cooperativeness as well as the ability to work unsupervised.
