The School District of West Salem is seeking to fill one full-time School Psychologist position. The district's three school psychologists work closely with students, families, and staff to promote a healthy learning environment that focuses on the cognitive, social, emotional, and personal development of all students. School psychologists support students by promoting college, career, and community readiness through a variety of interventions, assessments, evaluations, and school programming opportunities. Professional development is encouraged and supported and mentorship is provided for all new employees. Ideal candidates are committed to continuous improvement and effectively establish positive relationships with students and families. Excellent communication, leadership skills, time management and organizational skills are essential qualities for this position. The ideal candidate will show a high level of competency with IDEA and Section 504 requirements and be able to assist in the delivery of services. Demonstrated experience providing individual and group counseling, expertise in evidence-based behavioral intervention, and leadership with Response to Intervention (RtI) and Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is strongly preferred. Training and Licensure: • Specialist degree or equivalent in School Psychology • Valid Wisconsin DPI license #7062 School Psychologist Knowledge/Skills: • Commit to high standards, ethical principles, social justice, honesty, fairness, and treating others with dignity and respect. • Evaluate mental health, cognitive and academic functioning, adaptive skills, and the impact of environmental variables when assessing the whole child. • Promote equitable education and positively influence outcomes that directly affect the lives of children, youth, families, and school communities. • Identify challenging objectives and evaluate the effectiveness of individual student progress and the effectiveness of organizational processes and professional practices. • Collaborate with allied organizations, agencies, and others to develop and achieve shared goals. West Salem is located near La Crosse in the beautiful Coulee Region of Western Wisconsin. Our campus setting includes one elementary school, one middle school, and one high school, all within walking distance of each other on an approximate 100-acre campus.
