Coulee Christian School in West Salem, WI is hiring a full-time K-12 Physical Education & Health Teacher for the 2022-2023 school year. Coulee Christian School is a private, Christian school serving grades 3K-12. Coulee Christian School exists to intentionally and lovingly equip students to live life on the EDGE--Educated, Driven, God-Centered & Engaged. Applicants must have a four year degree, preferably in education, from an accredited college or university. Applicants must agree with the school's Statement of Faith as outlined on the school's website and must be willing to provide a written testimony of faith and pass a background check. The Physical Education/Health teacher is responsible for organizing innovative games and activities that promote physical activity among K-12th grade students. The goal is to develop motor skills, knowledge of rules of games and sports, & develop an understanding of health life practices for general health and well-being. Duties and Responsibilities: Spiritually The individual shall possess characteristics that reflect the following: An unreserved acceptance of the school’s Statement of Faith A strong, clear Christian testimony A mature, godly spirit A person of faith and prayer A broad acceptance of and by the evangelical Christian community Strong knowledge and understanding of Scripture Active involvement in his or her local church A servant leader Professionally The following shall characterize the individual: Demonstration of management skills necessary to carry out the position Effectiveness in oral and written communication Openness to new ideas, initiatives, and concepts in education Engagement in continuing education and professional development Academic Professional The job description and daily duties of a physical education teacher include the following: Measure student progress to encourage the mastery of school standards Celebrate individual and collective accomplishments by teaching the importance of self-improvement Create appealing lessons that implement a variety of methodologies Cultivate student awareness and ownership of personal performance Design, plan, and implement physical education lessons based on school standards Encourage teamwork to set collective and personal development goals Ensure accommodations and modifications are made for the growth and development of all students Ensure that the physical education environment is clean, safe, and constructive for all students Teach knowledge and skills in physical fitness, health education, and individual, dual, and team sports Competent and capable physical education teachers are professionals who: Are able to communicate their expectations to students and families and work with them to ensure they are achieving personal goals Consistently address the needs of individuals students Demonstrate the use of proven, research-based strategies for effective classroom management, lesson planning, active student engagement, and instructional delivery Support school’s common goals regarding physical education and physical activity Ongoing, daily duties of physical education teachers include: Employing a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media that is consistent with the physical limitations, needs, and capabilities of individuals students, and/or groups of students Guiding students in maintaining acceptable standards of classroom behavior Maintaining records of individual student achievement and evaluating students on a continuous basis Meeting and instructing assigned classes at designated times Preparing for classes and maintaining written evidence of preparation Upholding and enforcing school rules, school board policies, and administrative regulations Language Standards: Must be able to read, write, speak and understand spoken English Ideal Candidate Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Education Experience teaching students in a formal, educational setting
