Position Title: Early Childhood Special Education Teacher Department/Location: Wauwatosa School District Job Classification: Professional Staff Reports to: Principal, Associate Principal Position Summary: The teacher delivers quality instruction to District students, equipping and inspiring them to conquer their challenges now and in the future. Qualifications: - Relevant certification through the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction - Early Childhood Special Education (1809) - Knowledge of effective teaching practices - Ability to design lessons that meet the educational needs of all students - Ability to work in a collaborative manner with other staff members - Follows IEP goals and collects data/report progress  - Knowledge of the key components of professional learning communities (preferred) - Knowledge of PBIS and RTI (preferred) - Understanding of relevant common core standards (preferred) - Has experience in working with students with Autism and intellectual disabilities (preferred) - Understands the application of principals in Universal Design for Learning (UDL) (preferred) - Provides oversight and direction to instructional assistants (preferred) Essential Job Functions - - Professional Knowledge: Demonstrates an understanding of the curriculum, subject content, and the diverse needs of students by providing meaningful learning experiences. - Instructional Planning: Uses approved curriculum, instructional strategies, resources, and data to meet the needs of all students - Instructional Delivery: Engages students in learning by using a variety of instructional strategies in order to meet individual learning needs. - Assessment for and of Learning: Gathers, analyzes, and uses relevant data to measure student progress, guide instructional content and delivery methods, and provide timely feedback to students, parents, and stakeholders. - Learning Environment: Uses resources, routines, and procedures to provide a respectful, safe, positive, student-centered environment that is conducive to student engagement and learning - Professionalism: Demonstrates behavior consistent with legal, ethical, and professional standards. Contributes to the profession, and engages in professional growth that results in improved student learning. - Complies with the following requirement: The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the District
