ABOUT CESA #1:

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide direct and indirect services to students who are blind or visually impaired. Teach braille reading and writing, activities of daily living, adaptive devices, and technology related to braille and low vision. Evaluate students and develop and implement IEP programs. This position’s responsibilities include a wide variety of classroom settings and student ages and experiences. Our Teachers of the Blind and Visually Impaired have the opportunity to work with many different people, school districts, and systems.
Also provide individualized orientation and mobility instruction for blind or visually impaired students, ages 3-21, on an itinerant basis. Evaluate student skills and needs, prepare behavioral objectives, and complete progress reports. Consult with staff, other professionals, and parents. This position’s responsibilities include a wide variety of classroom settings and student ages and experiences. Our Orientation and Mobility Instructors have the opportunity to work with many different people, school districts, and systems.
QUALIFICATIONS
-Bachelor's Degree
- Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction License #0825 (Visual Impairment) and #0826 (Orientation and Mobility Specialist)
-Knowledge base in braille, Nemeth code, low vision, activities of daily living, and transition
-UEB (unified English Braille) certification preferred
-Ability to be flexible, meeting the needs of students and districts
-Ability to adapt to different systems
-Willingness to drive to multiple locations
-Current driver’s license+
