The Lake Mills Area School District is seeking a Administrative Assistant II at the Lake Mills High School. This is experienced administrative assistant work of a confidential nature. This position is the first point of contact for families, community members, and district staff inquiries, the administrative assistant is responsible for creating an inviting and welcoming environment for all stakeholders. The administrative assistant supports the designated district-level administrator in carrying out all necessary functions within their district-level assignment.
Essential Position Functions
1. Interpersonal Skills
a. Dedication to the mission and vision of the Lake Mills Area School District.

d. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
e. Ability to learn assigned tasks quickly and adhere to departmental and District procedures and policies.
f. Ability to respond to emergencies appropriately.
g. Ability to manage confidential information in a professional manner.
h. Ability to operate at a high level in a high volume, fast-paced environment.
2. Student Services
a. Triage students' issues; resolve or direct the student to the appropriate staff member.
b. Enter and maintain accurate student information and records in the Student Information System (Skyward).
c. Maintain daily attendance records in accordance with Wisconsin State Law and School Board Policy.
d. Prepare and maintain beginning of year startup and end of year rollover student information.
e. Process and verify report cards before final posting.
f. Gather and mail student records when notified by the District Registrar.
g. Perform duties related to students such as administering medication and basic first aid, and responding to accidents and illnesses.
3. Office Management
a. Answer phone calls, schedule appointments, and respond to routine district questions.
b. Greet visitors and determine the nature of the visitors’ business and direct them to their destination.
c. Compose or transcribe routine correspondence, memorandums, bulletins, student handbooks, course description booklet, etc.
d. Manage district’s incoming and outgoing mail and packages.
e. Manage general office files.
5. Counseling Department
a. Assist counseling staff with the organization and administration for student academic awards and the senior scholarship process.
b. Assist counseling staff with transcript requests and registration for assessments and the safe handling of their fees.
c. Coordinate military and college visits.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
1. Work in cooperation with other administrative assistants to cover their absences and complete tasks.
2. Assist in communication with bus drivers and monitor transportation needs.
3. Assist administrator in arranging interviews and materials.
4. Other duties as assigned by the administrator.
The Lake Mills Area School District is a 4k-12 district serving 1,500+ students in three school buildings; Lake Mills Elementary School, Lake Mills Middle School, and Lake Mills High School. 1. Associates Degree or 2 years work experience in an office environment.
2. The position requires a high degree of accuracy, accountability, attention to detail, confidentiality, and strong interpersonal skills.
3. Proficiency and strong knowledge of Google Suite, Microsoft Office, communication systems, and graphic design platforms.
4. Ability to operate with routinely shifting demands.
