Description: Under the direction and supervision of the Director of Facilities, Performs various carpentry and carpentry related maintenance and repair functions associated with the District’s repair, maintenance and construction related activities. Constructs walls, install concrete, replaces ceilings and other similar duties to protect and preserve buildings, equipment, and furnishings found in a school or commercial building environment. Competitive wage and benefits package.  Duties include but are not limited to: Performs general carpentry work involving the use of hand tools, electrically powered tools, pneumatic powered tools and other wood working machinery.    Remodels areas by installing new partitions, floors and ceilings. Installs and repairs bathroom partitions. Installs and/or repairs framing, finishing and installation of doors and jambs, repair and/or replacement of panic devices, locks, door closers, floor tile, glass, flat and block/brick concrete work, furniture, plastic laminate, shelving, cabinets, and remodels offices and classrooms. Repairs wood floors including sanding of floors, repairs and installs resilient tile floors. Builds, installs and repairs cabinets, shelving, bulletin boards, chalkboards, and white boards. Performs concrete work including sidewalk repair and installation, foundations, slabs, ramps, masonry repairs and flat work. Operates various trucks, tractors, snow plows, salt spreaders, and other commercial snow removal and grounds care equipment.  Ability to inspect, diagnose and repair a wide variety of the building system components. Ability to install and repair fences, playground equipment, baseball and basketball backstops, tennis court fences and nets, and other similar items.  Performs locker, desk, furniture and similar repairs or fabrication for individual student needs. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Successful completion of a four-year apprenticeship in the carpentry trade or equivalent training or experience.  Five years of progressive work experience in general carpentry and carpentry related responsibilities. Experience in or knowledge of:  Experience in general commercial remodeling and renovation of existing facilities. Possesses knowledge and understanding of carpentry support and operation principles as it applies to the various building systems common to school and commercial facilities. Must be familiar with, have a working knowledge of and comply with all national, state, and local codes to provide a safe and comfortable environment for all personnel. Ability to read blueprints and take directions from schematics.
