*Due to the immediate need, a partial commitment to cover the first half of the day (hours 1, 3, and 4) which would end by 10:45AM each day would be available. The starting time would be 7:15am.* Job Summary: The long-term substitute high school math teacher is responsible for guiding and engaging students in critical-thinking abilities to gain an understanding of mathematical concepts in grades nine, ten, eleven and twelve. Their duties include student engagement, quickly interpreting lesson plans and creating an environment for success for all students. Supervisory Responsibilities: Engages with students in and out of the classroom, including in the halls and in the cafeteria Duties/Responsibilities: -Follow lesson plans provided by the regular teacher/department to create a cohesive and consistent learning experience for students -Manage the classroom effectively to engage all student participation and maintain a positive and safe learning environment -Adapt teaching methods to fit the needs of each individual student Required Skills/Abilities: -Ability to adapt plans to specific classrooms -Flexibility and critical-thinking skills -Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Education and Experience: -A valid and current Substitute Teacher license -High school diploma or equivalent qualification
