Signing Bonus for Support Staff whose start date is 08/15/2021 or later: $500.00 ($250 after 30 days, another $250 after 60 days of employment. JOB GOAL: To maintain the physical school plant and grounds in a condition of operating excellence so that full educational use of them may be made at all times. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Strives constantly to promote the safety, health, and comfort of the students, community, and staff. • Keeps building and premises, including sidewalks, driveways, and play areas neat and clean at all times. • Shovels and sands walks, driveways, parking areas, and steps, as appropriate. • Sweeps classrooms and dusts furniture. • Cleans corridors after school. • Scrubs, hoses down, and disinfects toilet floors, and cleans all sanitary fixtures and drinking fountains. • Washes all windows on both the inside and outside. • Keeps the grounds free from rubbish. • Performs such yard keeping chores as grass cutting, tree trimming, and the like, as necessary, to maintain the school grounds in a safe and attractive condition. • Keeps all floors in a clean and attractive condition and in a good state of preservation through the use of power floor equipment. • Cleans all chalkboards/markerboards. • Makes such minor building repairs as he/she is assigned. • Reports major repairs needed promptly to the lead custodian or head custodian. • Reports immediately to the lead custodian or head custodian any damage to school property. • Complies with local laws and procedures for the storage and disposal of trash, rubbish, and waste. • Assumes responsibility for the safe conditions of the swimming pool, if the building he/she serves has one. • Completes all tasks as outlined in the Daily Cleaning Program developed for each building. • Properly handles and discards all recyclable materials. • Complies with district custodial directives as outlined in the Custodial Work Rules Program. • Performs all other duties as assigned or required. • Communicates effectively and in a timely manner with all stakeholders, through oral, written, and electronic means. • Attends work regularly. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This work regularly requires sitting, standing, walking, speaking, hearing, occasional pushing, pulling, lifting; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; work may require preparing and analyzing written or computer data, and observing general surroundings and activities; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. school cafeteria/playground/passageways). REPORTS TO: Primarily to the lead custodian with ongoing communication with the principal, Head Custodian, and the Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds.
QUALIFICATIONS: • Physically able to perform all tasks as outlined in the essential functions section of the job description. • Possesses mastery of skills relating to a majority of the essential functions section of the job description. • Has completed programs/course work relating to specific custodial skills and leadership training.
