We are a competency-based and personalized learning site, where students are given the opportunities for flexible learning, in a collaborative setting. JOB DESCRIPTION: The Waukesha STEM Academy - Saratoga Campus is a sixth through eighth grade Personalized, Project-Based Learning school, where students are encouraged to think outside of the box and are given the opportunity to demonstrate their learning in many different ways. The candidate we are seeking, should have a passion for creating a musical experience for students that fosters learning and personal growth; to help pupils to develop skills, attitudes and the knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for continued musical education and/or appreciation and to maintain good relationships with parents and other staff members. This position encompasses both Band and Orchestra courses and there are two levels of each Band and Orchestra. Outside of teaching 4 periods of Band and Orchestra courses per day (six 40-minute courses per day), this candidate will also have the opportunity to work with students, staff, partners and mentors on Project-Based Learning experiences, through our STEaM time, where STEM skills (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) are applied through hands-on and collaborative projects. This is one of the most exciting times of the day, when content teams are able to work together and music is one of the greatest skills that students are able to creatively tie into their projects, in cross-content integration of learning.
