The Verona Area School District is looking for an exceptional and creative communications leader to serve as our Communications Director (Public Information Officer). This vacancy posting will remain posted until filled. The Verona Area School District (VASD) is a PreK – 12 public school district of approximately 5,800 students located near Madison, WI. VASD is a growing school district with 10 schools including three charter schools and a two-way immersion Spanish program.
Clear, accurate, and frequent communication to our community, through multiple modalities, is a core value at VASD. There are a LOT of wonderful things going on in our classrooms and across our school district daily. Our Public Information Officer takes the lead on building systems and processes to communicate frequently and effectively with our parents, community, and staff. Our Public Information Officer is the face of the Verona Area School District and interacts with students, staff, and the community on a daily basis.

In order to be considered, candidates must have a history of leadership and demonstrable skills in the following areas:
Collaboration with Staff, Administrators and Community Video Production
Relationship Building Technology (apps, program, etc)
Media Campaign Creation Problem Finding and Solving
Media Relations Policy Development
Social Media Writing
Website Management Public Speaking
Basic Graphics Design Incident Response
Bilingual skills are highly valued but not a requirement for this position.
Salary, Benefits, Length of Contract: This position works a 260-day (12 month) assignment with starting compensation in the range of $79,386-$115,000 with an exceptional benefits package.
