District Description: Kaukauna Area School District is a public school district that serves approximately 4,000 students in early childhood through 12th grade, through the dedicated work of over 400 staff members, who continuously strive to create rigorous and relevant educational opportunities for the district’s students, in a safe and welcoming learning environment that fosters individual growth and teamwork. The seven schools that make up the Kaukauna Area School District serve all or portions of the following communities: City of Kaukauna, Town of Kaukauna, Village of Sherwood, Town of Buchanan, Village of Harrison, Town of Holland, Town of Vanden Broek, Town of Woodville, Village of Combined Locks, and Village of Little Chute. Superintendent Position Description: The Kaukauna Area School district is seeking a strong-willed strategic and visionary leader who can effectively communicate, listen, build trust and rapport, engage, and cultivate positive relationships with all stakeholders of the district. The individual selected as the next Superintendent will be highly collaborative with the skill set to take both a community and team-oriented approach, leading with an open-mind; grounded with a student-centered and family focused mindset; and serving as an ambassador, representative and advocate for the district. With a strong emphasis placed on partnership with the community, the ideal candidate must possess a deep understanding of the region, value strong public relations and be a highly visible and engaged member in both school and community activities. The ability to maintain and further strengthen morale, cultivate the climate and culture of the school district, navigate the political climate that impacts the district and educational landscape, and strategically develop a long-term visionary plan and budget to move the district forward are necessary leadership and management qualities for this position. Qualifications and Skills: The individual considered for this position must currently hold the Superintendent or School Administrator license through the WI Department of Public Instruction or be currently enrolled in an approved program to obtain the licensure. A strong academic background with successful experience in both teaching and school leadership administration (both at the building and district level), including special education, serving as a mentor/coach, and leading as a Superintendent/Assistant Superintendent, is required for this position. The ideal candidate will have served in leadership roles outside of the district and possess experience in change management and long-term strategic planning.
